Senior Software Engineer

Cubiko is looking for a senior software engineer to join our growing team. We’re a startup that works with medical, dental and specialist practices to provide data analytics to doctors, nurses and practice managers in easy-to-understand dashboards. Our products help them run a successful business and drive patient outcomes.

For this role you will be part of a close-knit squad that is being set up to build a new product. You will have expertise across the wider Cubiko development and product teams to help you succeed. But ultimately, you will be moving quickly to understand a deep problem our customers face and have autonomy as part of a squad to develop robust solutions.

Key skills

  • Write maintainable and robust software, with good test coverage.
  • Work on both clearly defined tasks as well as more complicated problems requiring some degree of requirements gathering and solution design.
  • Work in a close-knit squad with fellow engineers, a data analyst, a subject-matter expert product manager and a designer.
  • Engage with partners and service providers as needed to develop our product and integrate with external systems.

Requirements

Cubiko is a SaaS product comprising a full-stack web application and a data pipeline. Our product is hosted on AWS and Kubernetes, and programmed in a mix of Clojure, Python, SQL, and Typescript. We don’t expect applicants to be familiar with the exact stack used at Cubiko. Instead we’re looking for:

  • Roughly 5 or more years of professional software engineering experience
  • Familiarity with any general purpose programming language (such as Python/Javascript/Java/etc.) and a willingness to learn
  • Familiarity with cloud computing

Hiring Process

As a small company, we value and efficient and transparent hiring process. As an engineering applicant this is what you can expect.

  1. All applications (resumes) will be initially read and reviewed by an engineer.
  2. We’ll set up an phone screening over zoom to discuss cultural fit and make sure we’re all on the same page around timelines, salaries, and working environment.
  3. After a successful phone screening, we’ll request a code sample - this may be open source work, a personal project, or anything else you’re able to share. Alternatively we can provide a coding challenge. In addition we’ll ask a written values-based question.
  4. We then schedule a technical interview in our offices with a handful of our engineering team. This is a chance for you to get to know some of the people you’d be working alongside, ask questions about what it’s like to work at Cubiko, and for us to assess your technical suitability for the role.
  5. Finally we’ll make a decision internally and get back to you. In total, the process should take no more than two weeks.

Conditions

  • Our development team vary in how much they work in the office or at home, ranging from one day a week to five, with three being typical. We have flexibility to support different working requirements.
  • You must have working rights in Australia.
  • Because of the sensitive nature of data we handle at Cubiko, you must be willing to do a police background check.
